Suzuki Burgman Street At ₹1.02 Lakh — TFT & Keyless That Activa Can't Match

Suzuki just made the premium 125cc scooter segment a whole lot more interesting — and if you’ve been waiting for a maxi-scooter that actually feels like a gadget, your wait is officially over. The 2026 Burgman Street is here, it’s properly loaded, and the starting price might just surprise you.

Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially launched the second-generation Burgman Street in India at a starting price of ₹1,01,944 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The scooter became available at dealerships from April 8, 2026, and comes in two main variants — the Ride Connect Edition and the flagship Ride Connect TFT Edition priced at ₹1,13,220. The existing Burgman Street EX stays in the lineup at ₹1,07,902, giving buyers three distinct options at different price points.

What’s Actually New Here — And Why It Matters

I’ll be honest — when scooter facelifts come around, they usually mean minor cosmetic tweaks and a slightly updated instrument cluster. The new Burgman Street is a different story. This is a ground-up rethink of what a 125cc premium scooter should look like in 2026.

The headline addition is the 4.2-inch colour TFT display on the top variant, paired with Suzuki Ride Connect connectivity. But the feature that genuinely caught my attention is the keyless ignition system with a remote fob and answer-back function — something you’d expect on a full-size maxi-scooter, not a city commuter. It’s a legitimate first in this segment at this price point.

Beyond that, the Burgman Street gets split LED headlamps with position lights, LED tail lamps, compact turn indicators, a smoked windscreen, and metallic-finish emblems. The “Sleek Modern” design language is a real step up from the outgoing model — this no longer looks like a 125cc budget play. It looks like something you’d proudly park outside a co-working space in Bengaluru or Mumbai.

Engine, Ride, and Real-World Usability

Under that premium shell lives the familiar 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine built on Suzuki’s SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) platform. It puts out 6.2 kW of power at 6,500 rpm and 10.2 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm. What’s new is a slight increase in torque output, specifically tuned to improve low and mid-range grunt — which is exactly what you need when you’re navigating stop-and-go city traffic.

The chassis is a lightweight yet rigid frame paired with telescopic front forks and a swingarm rear — setup that’s proven its stability over years of Burgman use across Indian roads. Combined Braking System (CBS) is standard across the range for balanced stopping performance.

Practicality gets a serious upgrade too. Underseat storage now sits at 24.6 litres — genuinely useful for a full-face helmet. The fuel tank holds 5.5 litres, with a tail-mounted fuel lid that makes refuelling far less awkward. You also get a USB charging port, dual front storage compartments, dual utility hooks, engine start/stop, side stand interlock, and waterproof switches. The long well-padded seat and redesigned aluminium pillion footpegs make longer commutes noticeably more comfortable.

Variant Breakdown — Which One Should You Buy?

Variant Price (Ex-Delhi) Key Features
Ride Connect Edition ₹1,01,944 LED headlamps, Ride Connect, USB port, CBS
Burgman Street EX ₹1,07,902 Existing variant, EX-spec features
Ride Connect TFT Edition ₹1,13,220 4.2-inch TFT, Keyless ignition, Remote fob, All Ride Connect features

For most buyers, the choice really comes down to whether you want keyless ignition badly enough to spend that extra ₹11,276 over the base variant. Given how much smoother the daily experience becomes — no fumbling for keys in a bag, remote answer-back so you can find your scooter in a crowded parking lot — I’d say the TFT Edition is worth every rupee of that premium.

One Million Customers and Still Growing

It’s worth putting this launch in context. Since the original Burgman Street arrived in India in 2018, it has quietly built a loyal community of over 1.1 million customers. Suzuki reports that sales have doubled over just the past three years. That’s not accidental growth — the Burgman carved out a distinct “luxury scooter” niche in a segment dominated by volume players, and people responded.

Kenichi Umeda, Managing Director of Suzuki Motorcycle India, called it the ‘One & Only’ — and that’s not just marketing language. In a sea of similarly specced 125cc scooters, the Burgman genuinely offers something different in terms of design identity and feature depth. The new generation doubles down on exactly that thinking.

Where Does It Stand Against the Competition?

The Honda Activa 125 and TVS Jupiter 125 continue to dominate on volume, but they’re not really playing the same game as the Burgman at ₹1.13 lakh. The Burgman Street TFT Edition with keyless ignition, TFT connectivity, and maxi-scooter styling is genuinely in a class of its own at this price. Rivals would have to add significantly more tech to even approach this package, and none of them currently do.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence about upgrading from a basic commuter scooter to something that genuinely excites you every morning, the 2026 Burgman Street is the strongest case yet. Head to your nearest Suzuki dealership, take the TFT Edition for a test ride, and see if you can walk away without placing a booking. My guess is you won’t be able to.
