VinFast VF MPV 7 Launches At ₹24.49 Lakh — 517 Km Range, 7 Seats

A Vietnamese automaker just dropped a 7-seater electric MPV in India at a price that undercuts almost every electric three-row option on sale today. And it comes with free charging until 2029 — no strings attached.

I’ve been tracking VinFast‘s India strategy since they brought the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs here, and this latest move makes their ambitions crystal clear. The VF MPV 7 is not just another EV — it’s a direct play for families and fleet operators who want electric without the premium tax. At ₹24.49 lakh ex-showroom, this thing is priced to disrupt.

What VinFast Is Offering At This Price

Let me break down the core package. The VF MPV 7 rides on a 60.13 kWh battery pack that feeds a single permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 204 PS and 280 Nm of torque. That’s enough to push this MPV from 0 to 100 km/h in under 9 seconds — not blistering, but perfectly adequate for a family hauler in Indian traffic.

The ARAI certified range stands at 517 km on a single charge. Now, real-world range in Indian conditions with AC blasting and a full load of passengers will obviously be lower, but even at 70% efficiency you’re looking at around 360 km. That covers most weekend trips without range anxiety creeping in.

DC fast charging support means 10% to 70% in just 30 minutes. And here’s the kicker — every VinFast owner gets access to the company’s free charging network, extended until 31st March 2029. That’s roughly three years of zero fuel cost if you charge at their stations. The running cost math on this vehicle is genuinely hard to argue against.

Design And Dimensions — Practical Over Flashy

VinFast has gone with a minimalist design language here. The front gets connected LED DRLs with an illuminated VinFast logo, while the headlights are vertically arranged LEDs flanking the bumper. It’s clean, modern, and doesn’t try too hard. The 19-inch alloy wheels fill the arches nicely, and all four corners get disc brakes — a detail worth noting at this price point.

Dimensionally, the VF MPV 7 measures 4,740 mm long, 1,872 mm wide, and 1,734 mm tall with a 2,840 mm wheelbase. Ground clearance sits at around 180 mm, which should handle most Indian road surfaces without scraping. Black cladding on the bumpers, side body, and wheel arches helps reduce visual bulk and gives it a slightly rugged appearance.

The large glass area is something I appreciate. In a 7-seater, third-row passengers often feel claustrophobic, and generous glazing helps counter that. A roof spoiler and connected LED tail lights round off the rear — nothing dramatic, just well-resolved.

Cabin Layout — The Tesla Approach

Step inside and the first thing you notice is the single 10.1-inch central screen. VinFast has taken the Tesla Model 3 approach here — one screen controls everything, including the instrument cluster, infotainment, and even ORVM adjustments. There’s no separate driver display. I know this divides opinion, but it keeps the dashboard incredibly clean.

The steering is a four-spoke flat-bottom unit with audio and cruise control buttons. The gear selector lives on the steering column, freeing up the centre console entirely. Speaking of which, the floating centre console has no electrical switches or wireless charger on top — instead, there’s a massive open storage area underneath. The centre armrest also hides a large storage compartment.

Materials are textured hard plastics on the dashboard and door trims. It’s not soft-touch luxury, but the texturing gives it a premium enough feel for the price. Leatherette upholstery covers the seats, and there’s a bezel-less auto-dimming interior mirror — a nice touch.

Seven Seats That Actually Work

This is where the MPV format earns its keep. The second row is a bench seat — not captain chairs — but it slides and reclines, which lets you balance legroom between second and third-row passengers. There’s a one-touch tumble function for the second row to make third-row access easier, and VinFast has gone with theatre-style seating so rear passengers sit slightly higher for better visibility.

Boot space with all three rows up is 126 litres. That’s tight — barely enough for a couple of soft bags. But fold the third row down and it expands to 1,240 litres, which is genuinely usable. For daily family use with five passengers, this MPV offers a practical cargo solution. For seven-up road trips, you’ll need to pack light or use a roof box.

How It Stacks Up Against The Competition

The most direct rival right now is the BYD eMAX 7, which also offers a 7-seat electric MPV layout but comes in at a higher price point. The Kia EV9 sits in a completely different bracket. In the ICE world, the Kia Carens and Maruti Suzuki Invicto compete on the 7-seater family vehicle front, but they obviously can’t match the EV running cost advantage.

What VinFast has done smartly is price the VF MPV 7 in a zone where it doesn’t just compete with other EVs — it makes ICE MPV buyers think twice. At ₹24.49 lakh with free charging for three years, the total cost of ownership over five years could genuinely undercut a similarly priced diesel MPV. That’s the real disruption here.

The 517 km ARAI range also gives it a psychological edge. Even if real-world numbers land around 350-380 km, that’s still enough for intercity trips without charging stops for most routes in India.

The Bigger Picture — VinFast’s Fleet Play

VinFast has also confirmed a commercial variant called the Limo Green, aimed at fleet operators. This tells me they’re not just chasing retail buyers — they want a piece of the electric taxi and ride-hailing market that’s slowly growing in Indian metros. A 7-seater EV with low running costs and DC fast charging support makes a compelling fleet proposition.

OTA updates and adjustable regenerative braking round out the tech package. Three driving modes — Eco, Normal, and Sport — let you tailor the driving experience. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything you’d expect from a modern EV in 2026.

Should You Consider It

If you’re a family buyer looking at the 7-seater segment and you’ve been curious about going electric, the VF MPV 7 deserves a serious look. The pricing is aggressive, the range is competitive, and the free charging sweetener makes the ownership math very attractive. I’d recommend visiting your nearest VinFast showroom, taking a test drive, and seeing how that 517 km range and single-screen cabin feel in person before making your decision. This one could surprise you.
